Every year, people set goals for their lives, health, relationships, and business. These goals range anywhere from lowly to lavish. Regardless of how big or small the goal is, there are two things that need to happen in order for the goal to be achieved and the desire to actualized. To focus on achieving your goals, you must have the right mindset and strategy. In this post we are going to discuss these things, but we are going to look at them in detail.
The two things required to focus on achieving your goals
There are two things required to focus on achieving your goals. They are the right mindset and the right strategy. Both of these require some time and effort to develop. However, both the time and effort are dependent upon you and your level of commitment to the goal. You have to change the way that you think about yourself, your business, and your achievements. You have to not only want to achieve the goal, but you have to be willing to do what it takes to see yourself differently and take the action steps required to attain success.
You also have to develop a strategy that aligns with your mindset. I will discuss this further, but you need to realize that there are many ways to achieve a goal, but they aren’t all going to align with where you are or what you want. Your strategy is the way that you bring your desire into reality. It is the way that you enforce your mindset and apply your desired effects to your business and life. With the right strategy, you’re not only enable yourself, but you empower yourself to reach the goal and overcome obstacles that will come in your way.
Having the right mindset to achieve your goals
When we look at what is needed to focus on achieving your goals, some would think that you need things like the tools that you will use to set the goals, the time to set them, or even a book to guide you though the steps of doing it. While all of these things help, what they are truly working on is your mindset.
Your mindset has to be right in order to achieve your goals. Here is what I mean. You have to decide in your mind that you want whatever the goal is. You have to decide why you want to achieve the goal and what you are willing to do to achieve it. I often tell my clients that they also have to decide what they aren’t willing to do to achieve the goal.
I don’t just say this because of some random idea that I had. I say this because I have set my own goals in life and these are the some of the things that I have to do, when I am going through my process of focusing on them.
Most people don’t like this word, but you have to give yourself some boundaries or limits when it comes to the goal. You have to tell yourself how far you are willing to go to achieve the thing.
Once you have decided this, you have to shift your thinking to enable you to start seeing things differently. This is needed regardless of the area that your goal is in. You will have to change how you see, think, and feel about things because you are currently in one place and you are wanting to be somewhere else regarding the goal.
Whether you realize it or not, your mind has to be the first thing that must go where you want to be. You have to see yourself in that space, doing that thing, accomplishing the task, reaping the rewards of achieving the goal.
You also have to begin to consider the opposition or the challenges that you will face, and there will be challenges. Every time I set goals in my life, it’s like something comes out of the blue challenging whether or not I am serious about my goal. It attacks my faith and causes me to question whether or not achieving the goal is worth it, especially when it is a goal that will have a lasting impact on my life and my family.
You should prepare yourself for this also. You have to do your best to anticipate the opposition, so that you can prepare yourself for the fight. The mental fight to stay focused. Once you do this, you can take that goal, your why, your boundaries and limits, and begin to build a strategy around it.
Developing the right strategy to help you achieve your goals
After you have determined that you are going to reach the goal and you focus your mind and energy to do so, you have to begin to develop a plan of action to actually achieve the goal. You will have to think of your tools and your techniques that are necessary for actually setting the plan in motion.
I will use myself as an example. Recently, I shared with you that I want to make six figures in my business. This is a very lofty or lavish goals to some, but it is something that I am hard pressed on doing in my business. Not only did I share this with you, but I also shared that I want to hit that revenue goal while maintaining a healthy marriage and being a full-time stay at home mom to my children.
Some people would wonder how this is possible. Well, I’ve showed you a portion of my vision. What you have to understand is the my strategy has to reinforce my mindset. I don’t want to hustle and grind long hours in order to build my business or to achieve this goal, so my business model has to be one that enables me to do this. I also have to surround myself with like minded people that want or have achieved the same thing.
I can’t follow the business model that requires me to go live every day on social media or that encourages me to book 100 1:1 coaching calls a month. No, my strategy has to be one that is based on a more passive way of making income and generating the revenue. I know that many people think this isn’t possible, but I’m not one of them. I know that if I lay out my plan and do what is necessary, my goal will be achieved.
So my simple strategy is to use two different types of technology to bring in my audience and to generate the income. My strategy includes using the system that I have already built, that automatically takes my clients through my funnel and delivers my digital products to them, so that they are helped and I am achieving my goal. I have other plans, but with this, my goal doesn’t stand in the way of what is ultimately important to me on a personal level.
This is what I am encouraging you to do. Realize that your mindset is going to be what influences your strategy, but your strategy is going to be what enforces your mindset. The goal is to achieve or attain what you are reaching for. With this there is something that you must do, and I mentioned it earlier.
Your must prepare for the obstacles, so you can achieve your goals
Look, no one wants to sit around and think about the challenges that might be faced when aiming to achieve a goal, but the truth is that it is one of the most important parts of the process. You have to take the time to think about the reality of the challenges that you might face when you are working to achieve your goal.
Each person will have different challenges, but once you realize the ones that you might potentially face, you have to develop a strategy to overcome the obstacles. I am telling you this from personal experience.
Every time I decide that I want to achieve a goal, there is an obstacle that arises. I then have to determine how I will overcome the obstacle and push myself to that next level, so that my goal is achieved. If I can’t do that then I end up taking a step back. Some would call this quitting, but the way that I see life is that you have to look at the challenges you face and determine if you are willing to keep pushing past the obstacle. If the thing that you are coming up against is the thing that you said you aren’t willing to do, you have to come to agreement with yourself, that you will honor what you initially set as the boundary.
One of my boundaries, again, is my family. I have worked very hard as a wife and a mother to have a healthy family. I haven’t done this on my own, of course, but I take responsibility and celebrate my part in doing this. Every goal that I set must be in alignment with maintaining or growing what I have built, including my business.
This means that many of the obstacles that I face will definitely come up against my “no no zone” or my role as a mother and a wife. With this in mind, my mindset, strategy, and projection of my potential obstacles must help me to prepare to overcome the challenges that I will face, so that my ultimate goal will be attained.
The necessary process
None of these things are easy. Honestly, in may ways it would be easier to just get a job or to quit, but if attaining the goal is important, the necessary process must be implemented in order to reach the goal.
So here is what I encourage you to do.
Take sometime to sit down and get your mind right. Write down your goals and your desires. Begin to focus on what you want, why you want it, and what you are willing to do to get it. Then ask yourself what are the limits of achieving the goals. From there, I want to encourage you to begin developing a strategy that will help you to achieve the goals and don’t forget to put things in place to help you overcome your challenges.
Expect this process to take sometime. Next week, I am going to go in more detail with you on how my online business systems help me to implement my strategy, overcome my challenges, and reinforce my mindset.
Now it’s your turn. Think about this and take sometime to actually implement what I’ve shared with you.
