If there is one thing that I have learned from being a member of the online community, as a content creator, it is that you have to be able to move and shift with the times. You cannot get so comfortable in your way of doing things that you make it difficult for yourself to adjust, when necessary.
Yes, I have a reason for saying this.
Recently, I was working on my website, migrating it to a different type of server. I had asked all of the proper questions to my hosting company. I double checked to see if they had what I needed. I inquired about my 13 years worth of content, and felt settled about it all. I thought that things would go well for me, especially since I have been with this company the entire time. However, that was not the reality of my situation,
The reality is that my hosting plan, my products, and even some of my tools, are fazing out. I hate to say this, but the hosting program I have been using is said to be outdated. The truth is that the products that I am using are such a great deal that the company that I’m with must find a reason to get me off of it, so that are notifying me that things will be changing soon, and I’ll have to make a choice. So, now I’m searching for a better plan and even a different company.
This is the reality of working online. So many things are changing at one time, rapidly. With these changes come new rules, regulations, boundaries, and even benefits. We just have to learn how all of these things work. That’s one of the reasons why I’m writing this post.
I want to encourage you to stay flexible. Love what you love about what you do and what you have, but also remind yourself to be willing to move and adjust when necessary. You don’t want to get stuck in a rut because you didn’t want to change. In the online world, that means that you will miss out on your wins and maximize your losses.
The next time that you encounter a trial, make sure that you figure out your options. Ask yourself if the current situation is requiring you to stretch yourself, a little, in a healthy way.
There is nothing wrong with a pivot. It’s just that none of us like being caught off guard for things that we thought would not change.
Make sure that you do your research when getting a website. Ask a lot of questions and make sure that you and the company that you are working with are on the same page, regarding what you will get out of it.
Until next time,
